I don't know why *nix insists on spelling things -1 letter. I tried unmount 5 times probably before I realized the command was 'umount'. But I did get resolv.conf open and it didn't help.

The wireless router is running it's own DNS server that accepts your requests and then queries the DNS server that it knows about (Usually supplied by ISP when your router picks up its IP address details with DHCP.)
The question you may have been wanting to ask it how do you find out what DNS server your router is connecting to? Well the easy way is to log into your router as it will be listed in its configuration somewhere.
Thanks Scraphead
I myself forgot that routers reference their own DNS server first and get their info from a bigger server
That makes sense now that my current DNS server is a private IP address in the Class A range, right?

Thanks, that's exactly what I was trying to ask. But when I checked my routers configuration, the box say 'Get DNS server address dynamically from ISP' was checked and the only other options involved filling in the address yourself. So now what?

You could look up what your ISP's DNS servers are, it's likely one of those. Or you could specify different DNS servers such as Open DNS or Google DNS.
Or you could plug your computer directly into the modem and see what DNS servers it's assigning you.
