Default surround sound?

Hello everyone. I was just wondering what kind of sound card or special hardware i need in order for my computer to work with my home theatre system. Previously, all i had to do was connect the the three RWY cables from my television to my surround sound box, but now it's a different story. Is there a special sound card that i can install that will allow me to use the RW sound wires? any assistance is appreciated

Which have you replaced since then? The computer or surround sound system? How are you hooking your computer to your surround sound system (what type of cable connection)? Maybe you can get a converter (Composite to HDMI) if your TV has an HDMI slot for example (if the case is that your TV is new and doesn't accept older Composite connections.

i'm trying to figure out a way to connect the surround sound to my computer. The box has video/audio output connections that normally go straight to my television. How would I connect it to my computer instead?

You mean you have the red and white cables from your surround sound setup? I use this, I've got the same thing.

You can use a vga to composite connector as well as a standard quarter inch cord for the headphone jack. Or if you have a Mac they make special cords for this.

If you cut the wires apart you can easily make a 3.5mm to RCA wire.
